BlackDog - Great idea, but the (almost) only thing it's got over using flash drives is the ability to plug in & use while your existing OS is running. It's exciting to think up what you could do with this, but with flash drives running @$50 for the same space, $200 seems a little high.
Another way to compare is, for $180 (an NSLU2 & ext.HD) you can have almost (no biometric reader) the same thing with 80gb instead of 512mb!
Plus, I wouldn't be surprised at all if Apple or Palm add this functionality to their devices soon.
