I heard the Iowa Electronic Market predictions being brought up on CNN a couple times last night. It's getting brought up more and more every two years, as it's statistical reliability becomes more apparent with the major news outlets.

Hint to MS: It's Bad When Reporters Burst Into Laughter at Your FUD
"it is also encouraging news that this laughter means MS is near the very end of that particular rope. When journalists laugh at your FUD in public, the End is Near."

Only in Florida

The sunshine state strikes again with another stranger-than-fiction moment.  Apparently a man in Port Orange has been arrested for hitting his girlfriend with his 3' pet alligator. Yeah. Welcome to the Sunshine State, folks.

The Iowa Primate Learning Sanctuary has been renamed the Great Ape Trust of Iowa. I was recently looking for it at Google, and found the name had been changed. Thought I'd pass that along, in case you were going to look it up too. :)

MSN Money - Extra: Want better returns? Drive a car with better mileage: "By saving just $1,000 a year on gas, you'd match the S&P 500's yield on a portfolio worth almost $80,000."
Those who know me well know I can sometimes get to almost-preaching about hybrids. Sorry (not really) to bring it up again, but this article aims to financially drive the picture home. While the $2/gallon average the author uses is a little high for here (and we'll be paying that soon), and the (stock) market is 'down', his point is the same: "The market is telling us there's more opportunity in how we select the car we drive than in how we invest our savings." Can you really afford to throw away $500-$1000 a year on gas?

Should I go see Brink & Comedy XPeriment duke it out down at Mews, watch the Opening Ceremony, or take in a couple hours at the fair to check out the record-sized bull? (One of my sisters has a current fascination with it's large genitals.)

Microsoft's Service Pack 2 Says Existing Hotspot Logins Insecure A piece critical of MS's wording in their documentation for the almost-out-the-door SP2. They are valid arguments. If not mistakes by the documentation writers, these would be examples of MS muddying the waters for there own favor, but wouldn't that just be par for the course?
warning-slightly technical.
