The Register: "VeriSign calls ICANN bluff in world's biggest game of poker " Ok, what exactly is so bad about ICANN?
The Register: "Yeah, PC class graphics coming to handheld platforms, substantial improvements in power dissipation, cool, but so what? Well, if Nvidia is right, there are numerous so whats, and numerous pretty serious consequences."
Jorgen Stadje, Nonsens Page: The Case of the Exploding CD-ROM
Is this the original (first, indepandent, non-vendor) study? My drives sound like turbines when they spin up. Can't the manufacturers focus on quality instead of speed?
Happy Leap Day!

Recently, while visiting java.com to update my JRE, I browsed the examples of java on display. The coolest, by far, is Maestro. It lets you view mars data downloaded by the rovers, and be guided in a tour of what's been happening. Be warned- it takes a decent computer, and the larger your monitor the better.
Honorable mentions include.. JLearnIt, biobloc, and AirportMonitor. Heck, go visit java.com yourself.

Intel takes on AMD, adding 64-bit extensions to its Xeon line; Intel Unveils New Xeon Server Processor;Intel reveals new 64-bit server chip - I honestly didn't think Intel would move this quickly. They'd put it off till now, telling the world it's not time yet. Making this move now could hurt them (it probably won't), as it can send the message that AMD did make the "right" move and they are following. It can also say that Intel is still a nimble company, willing and able to change in order to take back AMD's "by the nose" lead.

Slashdot | Exploit Based On Leaked Windows Code Released Sure, it only works on IE5, but it shows what can happen when people can see the source.
Related- I hear (I haven't gone to look at it) the source filled with.... explicatives, between the programers. funny.
Humidor CL Server Slippery Skip has done it again, making another mini-ITX PC in a Humidor. This time it's a Server/Router, running full Windows2003 Server noless.
Then skimming the mini-ITX site (since I haven't in a while) , I saw the Windows XP box project. This has got to be the tightest project to date! For the icing on the cake, Andy made another box-case from a Linux distro box, a switch on the PC to "auto-sense" which box it was in, and then it would boot into the appropriate OS.
